0: Manage ITS
This page shows the functional process trees that encompass all the functionality of the National Intelligent Transportation System Architecture. The processes within these ten areas or 'collections' make up the functional decomposition of the Functional View and are designed to satisfy all of the functional requirements defined for the architecture. The processes have been created using a modular approach to enable partial or full deployment of functions depending on technological developments, and the needs of the implementers and stakeholders (jurisdictional authorities and private organizations). The modular approach also allows the inclusion of other later architecture developments without needing major changes.
The processes subordinate to this page are themselves collections of processes:
1) Manage Traffic
2) Manage Commercial Vehicles
3) Provide Vehicle Monitoring and Control
4) Manage Transit
5) Manage Emergency Services
6) Provide Driver and Traveler Services
7) Provide Electronic Payment Services
8) Manage Archived Data
9) Manage Maintenance and Construction
10) Support Secure Transportation Services
An eleventh process is called "Satisfy Implementation Requirements." This process represents the physical implementation of functions and communications links that are required by the architecture. It has no data flows or logical functions but is used in order for the Functional View to satisfy all of the Architecture Requirements.
