10.1.3.2: Authorize Connected Vehicle Environment Applications

This process shall manage the authorization of applications to run in the connected vehicle environment or to transmit certain types of messages within that environment. The process shall maintain a set of criteria that define any special constraints for the provision of applications and data transmissions such as the transmission of signal preemption requests or applications that retain customer data. This process shall accept requests for authorization from the requesting center and determine the eligibility of the center and its field equipment and connected vehicle or other mobile devises. This process, after determining the eligibility of the requestor shall return the authorization and inform the applicable processes. This process shall send a request to the Manage Secure Credentials process to update the digital signature with any special codes necessary to support the authorized activity, e.g. signal priority. This process shall provide an operator interface to support a system administrator updating information on criteria and other authorization parameters. This process shall provide an interface with other authorizing centers to coordinate permissions to run applications across jurisdictional or functional boundaries.
