Geo-cast

The delivery of a message to a group of network destinations identified by their geographical locations.

Geo-Fence

An electronic set of geographic reference points that form a bounded geographic region.

Geo-Referencing

The process of scaling, rotating, translating and de-skewing the image to match a particular size and position. To define something in terms of its physical location in space.

GIF

Graphic Interchange Format. A widely used graphics file format, developed by CompuServe. Many images found on the ARC-IT web site are in GIF format and can be typically be copied by right-clicking on them with your mouse. Unlike WMF files, GIF files are not well suited to resizing or other modifications.

Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS)

GNSS (Global Navigation Satellite System) is a satellite system that is used to pinpoint the geographic location of a user's receiver anywhere in a region or even the world. Four GNSS systems are currently in operation: the United States' Global Positioning System (GPS), Russia's Global Orbiting Navigation Satellite System (GLONASS), China's BeiDou Navigation Satellite System (BDS) and Europe's Galileo system.

Goals

In long range transportation plans, generalized statements which broadly relate the physical environment to values.

Grade Separation

The raising or lowering of a road or highway grade to bridge over/under another road or highway to eliminate traffic movement conflicts.
