10.4.1: Maintain Time Synchronization

This process shall receive regular inputs from a network time server that provides accurate time to use to synchronize with other processes in the connected vehicle function. It is likely a Stratum-2 Time Servers which is defined as Time servers that are 2 steps removed from a basic time source (e.g., atomic clock). Stratum-2 time servers request time from Stratum-1 servers. Stratum-1 time servers are directly connected to a basic time source by a hardwire connection (e.g., RS-232). Upon accepting the Time message from the Time Server, this process shall ensure that its contents meet the acceptance criteria for all of its data objects. This process shall generate a local form of time expressed in universal time coordinated (UTC) format and makes it available to all center and support based processes.
